Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
The short version. PacingSplit collects nothing about you. We operate no server, so nothing about you ever reaches us. Everything you write and every run you record stays on your iPhone, your Apple Watch and your own Apple Health data. The one exception is the route builder, which asks Apple Maps for walking directions — see Maps and routes.
Who is responsible
PacingSplit is published by Coformaco Ventures BV, Kwadestraat 155 PB 5.1, 8800 Roeselare, Belgium. For any question about this policy, write to matthijs@coformaco.be.
What the app stores, and where
| What | Where it lives | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Your saved sessions | On the iPhone, and a copy of the active one on the watch | No |
| Imported GPX routes | On the iPhone, and a copy on the watch once you send it | No |
| Unit preference | On both devices | No |
| Recorded runs | Apple Health | Only where you tell Health to send it |
Sessions and routes transfer directly between your own iPhone and your own Apple Watch over Apple's device-to-device connection. They do not pass through any server of ours, because we do not operate one.
Health data
With your permission, PacingSplit uses Apple HealthKit to:
- Read your heart rate, distance, running speed, running power and active energy during a run, so it can show them to you as you run;
- Write the finished run as a workout, together with its route, so it appears in Fitness and Health alongside your other activity.
Health data is read and written on your device only. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties. You can withdraw access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.
Location
While a run is in progress, PacingSplit uses your location to calculate your live pace and to record the route map that is saved with the workout. Location is used on the device and written into your own Health data; it is not transmitted anywhere else and is not used to build any profile of you. If you decline location access, the app still guides and times your session — you lose live pace and the route map.
Separately, if you start a suggested loop from where you are standing, your current location is sent to Apple’s directions service to plan it. That is described under Maps and routes.
Maps and routes
The route builder on the iPhone shows a map and can suggest a loop of a distance you choose. Both use Apple’s MapKit, and both involve a request to Apple:
- Showing the map downloads map tiles for the area you are looking at.
- Drawing a route, or asking for a suggested loop, sends the points you have placed — including your current location, if the loop starts from where you are — to Apple’s directions service, which returns a walking route that follows real roads and paths.
Those requests go to Apple, not to us. We operate no server and receive nothing from them; Apple’s handling is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy. The route map shown on the watch during a run is drawn from data already on the device. If you never open the route builder, the app makes no network requests at all.
Photos and screenshot import
If you import a training plan from a screenshot, the image is read using Apple's on-device text recognition. The picture is not stored by the app and never leaves your iPhone. PacingSplit only ever sees the single image you choose in the picker; it has no access to the rest of your photo library.
Notifications
PacingSplit schedules local notifications on the watch so a pace change still reaches you when the screen is off. They are generated on the device. There is no push server and no remote notification.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
There are none. PacingSplit contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no attribution or tracking framework, and no third-party libraries of any kind. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not track you across apps or websites.
Crash reports
If — and only if — you have turned on Share with App Developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with crash logs and performance data. Apple collects and delivers this; we receive it in aggregate and cannot identify you from it. You can turn it off at any time in the same place.
Payments
PacingSplit is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions, so there is no payment data of any kind.
Children
PacingSplit is a general-audience fitness tool. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection over personal data held about you. Because we hold no personal data about you at all, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. In practice:
- Deleting the app removes the sessions, routes and preferences it stored on that device;
- Runs already written to Apple Health remain yours to manage in the Health app, where you can delete them individually or revoke the app's access;
- If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
Changes to this policy
If a future version of PacingSplit ever changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
